The Route Often Travelled

This week's challenge is about shutting the laptop lid, ignoring work emails and enjoying the journey to the office.
I'm extremely fortunate to be able to use the Thames Clipper River Boat as one of my routes to work. It takes a fair bit longer than the train, but it's easy to grab a coffee, sit in a comfy seat, answer emails, or watch the world go by (daydream).
Instead, I embraced the breeze, grabbed the camera and set about the task at hand.

Week 19 - Journeying to Work

Location 1 - Rotherhithe, London
Columbia Wharf is directly opposite Canary Wharf and couldn't be more different to the glass towers. The building houses a Hilton Hotel and the super observant will note the Shard popping up in the background. Most guests travel from the hotel to the office by boat taking just a couple of minutes.

Location 2 - Tunnel Wharf, Rotherhithe, London
This is one of my favourite groups of buildings on the journey. The Mills and old warehouses nestled comfortably alongside the modern apartments. The tiny (and very old) Mayflower pub is just peaking through - worth a visit for the amazing pies alone.

Location 3 - Millenium Bridge, London
Highway to the sky? Travelling by boat does provide a different perspective on the world, particularly when it comes to bridges. I'm glad the sky and clouds played nicely too.
In Summary:
There is just so much variety to witness on both river banks. Old, very old and modern architecture cosied up next to each other. Probably the subject of a book rather than just a blog!
Daydreaming, working or shooting with the camera, this has to be one of the best ways to get to and from the office.
