The Everlasting Sunset

Possibly as a result of the intense summer heat, but there has not been much in the way of dramatic sunsets lately. More haze than 'wow'. This led me to a trip down memory lane.
Back in March 2021, whilst enjoying another of the many Lockdowns, I remember looking out of the window at the sky and thinking 'could be a nice sunset tonight. I was then momentarily distracted, looked up again and then thought 'you need to get out of this house with the camera NOW or you will miss it you idiot ' Or words to that effect.
I hot-footed it over to Royal Victoria Dock, part of my daily Lockdown route, in a panic that I'd missed the best of it.
Week 20 - When Mother Nature Paints the Sky

Location 1 - Royal Victoria Dock, London
“I think this is going to light up..." — Mike Blanchette/Tom Mackie (said often looking skywards)
Somewhat out of breath, not least due to the many stairs involved in getting onto the bridge over the dock, I was greeted with the above. Epic.
Probably known only by locals, the view from here on any day is good, but this was something else.

Location 2 - Royal Victoria Dock, London
Mother Nature showed no sign of letting up, so I climbed down the many stairs and continued around walk around the dock to another favourite spot of mine.
There's so much going on with the now 'City Hall', O2, Emirates Cable Car, DLR passing through and Canary Wharf serving as a nice backdrop.

Location 3 - Royal Victoria DLR Station, London
And then there was more...
I carried on round to Royal Victoria Station as the bridge over the tracks provides another great viewpoint.
This bridge can be a little bouncy, so handily it was almost passenger free at that hour.
In Summary:
The show, all in all, went on for more than 90 minutes. I don't think I have ever witnessed anything quite like it.
Whilst I'm keen for the summer to continue, I am definitely looking forward to the cooler temperatures and the return of the dramatic sunset.

Next Time: Same challenge, different day

I am partial to sunset spam .. can’t get enough of it especially when it’s home grown .
